Publish:
- Create a new Hard Drive Publish Service
- On the Publish Services panel header, Click on the (+) to bring up the context menu.
- On the menu, Click {Go to Publish Service Manager}
- On the left section of the Dialog, Click the {Add} button.
- In the Create new Publish Connection Pop-up dialog,
- Set "Via Service" = Hard Drive
- Supply a Name
- Click the {Create} button
- When the Create new Publish Connection Pop-up dialog closes, if necessary select the newly created Publish Service in the Left Section of the Lightroom Publishing Manager
- In the Right Section of the Lightroom Publishing Manager for the newly created (but unsaved) Publish Service, make the following changes to the "Export Location" section:
- "Export To:" Specific Folder
- Click the {Choose} button to navigate to the "Parent" Folder that will hold your IPhone sub-folders
- In the Right Section of the Lightroom Publishing Manager for the newly created (but unsaved) Publish Service add additional details to the sections: "File Naming, File Settings", "Image Sizing", Output Sharpening", "Metadata" and "Watermarking".
- Click the {Save} button.
- Back in Lightroom Library module, locate your newly created iPhone Publishing Service
- The Publishing Service will have one empty Collection in it
- Right Click on the Publish Service header to add:
- Additional Folder/Collections
- Smart Folder/Collections
- Note while in LR you can add Published Folder Sets, this sub-folder structure does not translate as a sub-folder structureto the iPhone
- In iTunes, Connect your iPhone device
- When it starts to Sync, select it in the left panel and choose {Photos} from the menu across the top
- In the Photos section,
- Check the box labeled "Sync Photos From"
- Navigate to the Top level Folder selected or created when you created the Hard Drive Publish Service for the iPhone in Lightroom
- Select the radio button labeled "All Folders"
- In the lower right corner of the right panel, choose {Sync} or {Apply}
The default folder created when you created the Hard Drive Publish Service for the iPhone in Lightroom will be a static folder. I usually ignore this since it is also a parent folder for any additional collections(folders) that you create along side. I like to create Smart Folder/Collections since I can auto populate the se and manage adding or removing images via Smart Collection criteris and then only need to hit the {Publish} button in LR to prepare the iPhones Publish folder for the next time I sync with iTunes
