Like most Photoshop users, I use actions. But not too enthusiastically - they encourage you to blindly adhere to a recipe, and lack the conditional logic that I often need - eg do x if the image is portrait style, y otherwise. But I've been looking for recipes for this line engraving concept. One enthusiasts' source is Action Central, where you'll find a script of mine, and another is dpReview retouching forum where I found a stipple engraving action. Close in period, but not really what I'm after.
